Welcome to the Elemental School for Misfits! I actually made this site a while ago, but it went inactive. So now, after a few heartwrenching years of sadness and regret, I returned to my beloved forum. I've given it a makeover, and now it's ready for a wave of new and active members! A plotline will start when there are enough characters. So waltz in, have a look around and maybe think about joining!

The House Points System
It's pretty simple really. Doing good things earns you house points, doing bad things gets them taken away. House points can be earned in and out of character. The house with the most points at the end of each month gets a special prize or privilege. Afterwards, on the 1st, the house points are reset to zero. The system starts officially when we hit thirty members, but you can start earning points now.
I've put together a list of some things to do to earn or lose points. It isn't restricted to the things on this list, but all of these are surefire ways. If you think you've done something house point worthy, PM one of the admins. We won't be looking, so if you don't let us know then you miss out. If you think someone's done something to deserve points being taken away, then please PM us as well.
To Gain Points
Writing a really fantastic post will get you fifteen points. This means at least 400 words with no spelling errors and or grammar mistakes. When we're short of a certain type of character, a 'currently encouraging [insert type here]' note will be put in the Sorting Hat. You will gain ten points per encouraged trait in your character. It doesn't count if your character was made before the note was put up. If they go inactive straight away the points will be taken down. Advertising also earns you points. The Hex ad is in the Advertising and Affiliating board, or you could write your own. You will earn one point per board you advertise on. Make sure you include the links in your PM. If you advertise in a different way, explain it to us and include any links. If you refer a friend to Hex and they create an account, you will get ten points. Those points will be taken away if your friend's account goes inactive in less than two weeks. If you are a new member and someone has been particularly kind and helpful, PM us and tell us what they've done and we will award them points. Teachers have the ability to give house points if your character is well behaved and/or does a particularly good homework assignment. No more than ten points per student, though. Again, one of the staff members must be notified or we can't add the points.
To Lose Points
Breaking any of the rules will result in losing points. The amount depends on which rule you break. Writing a particularly bad post will lose you points. That means spelling mistakes, grammar errors and less than a hundred and fifty words. Sometimes we will post a 'currently discouraging [character type]' in the Sorting Hat. You will lose two points per discouraged trait your new character has. If a member has been particularly mean or unhelpful, PM a staff member and tell us how. We can take away points depending on how badly they behaved. Teachers can take away points if a student is late showing up or handing in their homework. A particularly bad homework assignment can count too. If they sign the class roster but never show up, that also means house point deduction.
Remember, you must PM one of the staff if you have done something worthy of house points or if you see someone doing something you think they should lose points for. If you've done something good that isn't on the list, still PM us and we might award you points. If you think of something to add to the list, then let us know. The prize for being the highest earning house is different each month, but it's always secret and and always good!
Have fun!
